Naustrium Leaves and Shoots
Certified Organic Nasturtium Leaves and shoots
(10 to 12 of various sized leaves and stem)
Nasturtium leaves are from the Empress of India a small to medium in size and are round and broad in shape, averaging 5-15 cent. in diameter. The flat, bright green leaves are waxy, pliable, have a few veins running throughout, and are connected to a central stem.
The leaves and petals of nasturtium are extremely nutritious as they contain vitamin C and iron. The leaves also have antibiotic properties which are at their most effective just before the plant flowers.
All parts of the nasturtium plant are edible: flowers, leaves, stems, and young seed pods (mature seed pods have a very hard, unpleasant seed inside). All of these parts have a distinct peppery flavor similar to radishes.
